"Friends of ..." is now commonly associated with a wide variety of organisations, but when the Friends
of Shropshire Music Trust was formed in 1990 it was something of a ground-breaking concept, particularly
when allied to an organisation like the Trust. Even today it remains fairly rare. From its formation the particular
objective of the Friends has been the support, maintenance and advancement of the charitable work of the
Shropshire Music Trust. Friends provide administrative and financial support to the Trust. Administrative help
includes management of ticket sales (either before or at concerts), pre-concert venue liaison, and carrying out
front of house duties at concerts. Financial support is provided by a sizeable annual donation, the money for
which is generated by Friends' annual subscriptions and donations and, on occasions, fund-raising events.
Friends' subscriptions and support make a major contribution to the Trust's activities and are vital for its continuing success. To maintain this support new Friends are always needed and welcome. Subscribers receive a variety of benefits and privileges:
A minimum donation of £6 per person or £10 per couple is all that's required, but annual donations above
these amounts are always gratefully received. If you pay Income Tax then any sum paid to the Friends can be
treated as a Gift Aid donation, enabling the Friends to recover the basic rate of tax relative to the donation, thus
increasing your donation by 25p for every £1 given. If you would like your donation to be applied in this way please
complete the declaration on the Application Form.
Applying for membership couldn't be easier: simply click on the Friends Application Form, complete
it and post with either cheque or Standing Order form
