"Tasmin Little leads the way in Oswestry"
London Mozart Players
Holy Trinity Church, Oswestry
Admag Preview 17/04/08One of Europe's finest chamber orchestras, the London Mozart Players, along with their director and world renowned celebrity violinist Tasmin Little, are set to delight Shropshire audiences with a concert at Oswestry's Holy Trinity Church on Monday, April 21.
The concert, promoted by Shropshire Music Trust, will feature a programme of works including Mozart's Overture - The Marriage of Figaro, Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings and Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D.
Shropshire Music Trust's Music Director, Kate 'Hogwood said: "This season's Shropshire Music 07/08 event in Oswestry will bring the UK's first and internationally-renowned chamber orchestra to another centre in the county, with their always definitive performance of the core classical repertoire.
"Beethoven's famous Violin Concerto will allow international star Tasmin Little to demonstrate both her deep emotional involvement in the music and her incredible pyrotechnic flair. It is balanced by Tchaikovsky's glorious Serenade, which displays fantastic string colours with vigorous Russian dance music, and Mozart's wonderful overture to The Marriage of Figaro - watch how fast the string players' fingers can move!
"Tasmin will also be making her conducting debut and performing her role as both soloist and director in her 2008 UK tour with the London Mozart Players (LMP)".
Tasmin Little is considered to be one of the world's legendary musicians.
As a concerto player, Tasmin's performances in the 2006/07 season took her on a major tour to South East Asia and Australia playing Edgar's violin concerto - celebrating the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth.
As well as the LMP she now plays/directs orchestras such as Norwegian Chamber, Royal Philharmonic, European Union Chamber Orchestra and Britten Sinfonia.
She also performs with the Royal Philharmonic, RTE National Symphony Orchestra Dublin, Slovenian Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony, UEUCO, City of Birmingham Symphony and BBC Philharmonic orchestras as well as playing the Elgar Concerto with Deutsches Symphonic-Orchestra Berlin and Leonard Slatkin at her re-engagement at the prestigious Philharmonie.
There will be a pre-concert talk, from 6.30-7pm. by Anthony Lewis-Crosby (managing director of LMP) in conversation with Tasmin Little.
Tickets are available from Music Makers. 2 Leg Street, Oswestry, Tel: 01691 654510, or from the Shrewsbury Music Hall Box Office on 01743 281281.
